Identity in this way is extreme narcissism. Its entirely about the self and has no reference to the wider World except that the wider World MUST accept their view of their self that MIGHT change at any moment if they FEEL like it. it is a brilliant destabilising philosophy that breaks society from the inside. This is already being accepted in law as well as culture and will, in my opinion, create an almost civil war type situation in the near future.

'People are always going to have an opinion about it. They're entitled to hold an opinion about it - but there's a way to go about voicing that opinion and threatening to kneecap me is not that way.'
I thought was Johnson said was pretty fair and balanced. He even admits he hasn't thought much past his personal opinion.

Very true. Not the same but I remember when John McEnroe got in to trouble saying Serena Williams would be 700 odd in the world in the men's game. He then said they should all play as one for a couple of years and see what the rankings were. Maybe that's what sport should do all play under one category and see how long it lasts!
